Q:  When did you start cosplaying, and what got you started?
A:  I started in 2002 after seeing some cosplayers at my first convention in 2001. Everyone looked so beautiful in their costumes and I simply wanted to belong to those wonderful people. In 2002 I wore my first self-made costume and was easily addicted.

Q:  What is your favorite part of the costume-making process?
A:  I don't like sewing much, but styling wigs is a lot of fun. It's always fascinating - what you can do with wigs. I mean, even the craziest hairstyle is possible to be made real, isn't that amazing? However, I think for me the part of wearing the costume is the most enjoyable. When you see everything together and can be proud of what you were able to make, that's the best.

Q:  Which costume are you most proud of?
A:  Oh that's really difficult. I think I'll go with my Zero R2 costume from Code Geass here. I was so proud of the jacket because it's fully lined and fitted so well. I never lined a jacket before. A lot of work went into the shirt and coat as well, not to mention the helmet. I am really bad a crafting, so this was a big achievement. Yes, I think it's my Zero, if I have to choose.

Q:  Do you have a favorite Arda Wig style and/or color?
A:  I really love the Matilda. It's full and soft and it comes with a lace front! My favorite colors are Plum, Midnight Blue, and Crimson. <3

Q:  What advice do you have for new cosplayers getting into the hobby?
A:   Have fun and don't let others drag you down. All those cosplayers you may look up to had to start at one point and you can totally reach their level. ^.^ Just have fun cosplaying and don't give up because something didn't work out the way you wanted it at the first attempt. Just give it another try <3

Q:  When did you start cosplaying, and what got you started?
A:  Well, it kind of all began in 2003, when a friend and I decided to be original and make Peach and Daisy’s dresses (out of poplin…) for Halloween at high school. I learned at the time that cosplay existed after doing some research on the Internet. But I consider that I officially started cosplaying in 2006, when I attended my first convention as Aeris. I thought these kind of events only took place in Japan, and I was so excited to hear about one being organized in a nearby city.

Q:  What is your favorite part of the costume-making process?
A:  Am I too predictable if I say wigs? :) It’s just so crazy what you can do with a handful of fibers and some hairspray! I also really like detailed work, like crafting and finishing accessories.

Q:  Which costume are you most proud of?
A:  For the moment, definitely Beauty from Ghost Trick. Obviously, the wig was an insane challenge, and I still can’t believe that it all held up haha. It was also my first time having an intensive body makeup. I wanted so much to do the character justice, and the results were far beyond my expectations!

Q:  Do you have a favorite Arda Wig style and/or color?
A:  I’m not even sure I’ve ever used a same style twice, but I’d say I really like the Jareth for its fullness and the ease of spiking. I like the fact that Arda always has the perfect base wig for any project I want to tackle. As for colors, I’m really fond of the purple palette and I have a soft spot for Ultraviolet (AR020), it’s just so vibrant!

Q:  What advice do you have for new cosplayers getting into the hobby?
A:   Don’t be afraid to TRY! Try to use a pattern, try some new materials, try the new technique you read about, try to make that wig that seems challenging, try to make that costume even if you’re not sure you have the skills. Sure, you’re gonna make some mistakes at first, but I have been in this hobby for 10 years and I wouldn’t be where I’m at if I hadn’t stepped out of my comfort zone. Just do it! And nobody can tell you what you can or can’t do!

Q:  When did you start cosplaying, and what got you started?
A:  I started cosplay in 2006, I believe! My twin sister and I are from a small town and the internet was still fairly new at our house- when we were finally able to each have our own computers, we began to see these strange kids having Halloween fun all year around on the web! It looked like a blast, and that's how we first started learning about cosplay.

Q:  What is your favorite part of the costume-making process?
A:  Wigs and facial hair pieces are my current favorite! It's pretty rare that I cosplay characters with simple hairstyles, so it's fun to try and translate these designs into real life!

You also can't beat a good mustache. That's just a fact.

Q:  Which costume are you most proud of?
A:  This is a tough one, as each of my costumes represents something personal and special to me. So many of them symbolize a milestone; a new technique I've learned, or merely a goal that I've set for myself and been able to finish to the best of my ability.

But I think my cosplay of Simon from Adventure Time may mean the most in regards to that- I try to stay humble in this hobby, but when I put Simon on for the first time in our hotel room, I just felt such pride at the reflection. I went into the project not knowing how to make prosthetics or lay facial hair, yet I was able to push myself and learn to make it happen. Honestly, my confidence had faltered up until the very end, so I was very proud of that.

Q:  Do you have a favorite Arda Wig style and/or color?
A:  I'm a pretty big fan of spiking styles, so I think the Jareth is my favorite. I rarely wear any wig straight out of the bag, and I think Arda has some of the best base wigs FOR heavy styling projects. I haven't been able to use it often (only once, in fact), but Powder Blue is a gloriously pretty and soft shade-- I'm just in love with it.

Grape is also a wonderfully rich color; it makes me thirsty!

Q:  What advice do you have for new cosplayers getting into the hobby?
A:   Don't be afraid of mistakes.
Don't be afraid of ridicule.
Don't be afraid of being ridiculous.
Don't be afraid of humor.
Don't be afraid of confidence.
Don't be afraid of being ugly.
Don't let someone else tell you what you think.
Don't let someone else tell you how you feel.
Don't let someone else tell you if you've succeeded.
Cosplay who you love, and who you want.

Be kind. And Cosplay Fearless.
