Q:  When did you start cosplaying, and what got you started?
A:  When I went to my first convention, I noticed that in the churning sea of normal attendees a select few had donned recognizable home made costumes of anime and game characters. There were Star Trek costumes too, but those looked to be purchased. I ended up talking with home-made costumers and learned it was called 'Cosplay'. They encouraged me to try it, and I made my first cosplay in 2001! I've been cosplaying ever since!!

Q:  What is your favorite part of the costume-making process?
I really like the act of buying everything. Sourcing out new materials and having them arrive in the mail is always pleasing, especially if the fabric or shoes are exactly want I wanted. When it comes to actual construction, my favourite part is when something goes right the FIRST time. I'm constantly re-making things though, so buying wigs and things is the most thrilling part X'D.

Q:  Which costume are you most proud of?
A:  Probably Lina Inverse (Slayers OVA) or Ryuko Matoi (Kill La Kill). With Lina I did so much armor, prop work, and resin casting that I had not attempted before and I was so happy with how it turned out! With Ryuko Matoi I'm proud I managed to make Senketsu (the outfit) come to life by using different techniques (follow-me-eyes) and materials (latex sheeting).

Q:  Do you have a favorite Arda Wig style and/or color?
A:  I LOVE the lace front wigs and Luthien. My favourite colours are the Raven and Dark Purple.

Q:  What advice do you have for new cosplayers getting into the hobby?
A:   Lighting, photography, and photoshop are things that help cosplays look 10000% more impressive than they actually might be in reality. DON'T GET DISCOURAGED by what you see on the internet, make something because you WANT TO and don't let others hold you back.

Q:  When did you start cosplaying, and what got you started?
A:  I went to my first convention in 2001. I saw all the people dressed up in costume and thought that it looked like a TON of fun, so I made my first cosplay in 2002 so that I could have fun dressed up in silly clothes too!

Q:  What is your favorite part of the costume-making process?
A:  I enjoy the entire costume-making process. From the initial exposure to a design (whether it be by watching an anime/playing a game, someone showing me the artwork, or me stumbling upon it in an artbook or online), to breaking the costume down into pieces to breaking those pieces down into materials, to the shopping/collection of materials, to the construction, and to the finished piece and wearing it... I adore cosplay and every minute of it... Though if I absolutely had to pick my favorite part of the process, it is that one moment when you finally put on every single piece of your finished project and see it in completion for the first time. There’s nothing like it!

Q:  Which costume are you most proud of?
A:  To this day, I think the costume I am most proud of is my Metamorphosis/Shamanized Nina from Breath of Fire II(2). I went into that insane, elaborate project having no idea what I was doing with little/no help and wanting only to complete a crazy, ambitious project all on my own to test what I was capable of. Considering the little knowledge and skills I had at the time, I am still surprised at how well that costume turned out, and though I could make her much cooler now, I am still very proud of her.

Q:  Do you have a favorite Arda Wig style and/or color?
A:  Hands down, I ADORE Arda’s Luthien. I use it at any opportunity and chance I get. The Luthien is SUCH a gorgeous wig, so full of body, and is such a versatile length with amazing thickness. If I could use a Luthien for everything, I would. As for colors... That’s a hard one! There are so many amazing blends that Arda has, but I am very fond of the Rose Pink (033) and Light Blonde (013).

Q:  What advice do you have for new cosplayers getting into the hobby?
A:   If there is anything I can offer to newcomers, it is this: Do what you want, and do it for yourself. Don’t let people push you into groups or costumes that you won’t enjoy. Cosplay is for fun, and whatever your idea of fun concerning cosplay is, always pursue that! Whether you make or buy your costumes, or do a little of both, do it for yourself, have fun, and spread the cheer!
