This week we interviewed our customer, Moderately Okay Cosplay! See more of his work via Facebook!

Q: When did you start cosplaying, and what got you started?
A: I started cosplaying in 2013. I was heavily into League of Legends at the time, and really wanted to dress up like one of the characters in the game. However, it was nowhere near Halloween, and that’s when one of my friends said, “Why don’t you make the costume and wear it to a convention?” And the rest all fell into place and is history!

Q: What is your favorite part of the costume-making process?
A: I like painting. I don’t know why. But I really enjoy painting armor. I feel like it’s the most important part of bringing a costume together.

Q: Which costume are you most proud of?
A: I cosplayed the character Gyro Zeppeli from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure and it’s the only costume I have where I’m happy with 99% of it. I don’t really know why, but I think it came out really well.

Q: Do you have a favorite Arda Wig style and/or color?
A: Color, no. All of the Arda colors are really great. But my favorite style is absolutely the Jareth. It’s so versatile and has never let me down.

Q: What advice do you have for new cosplayers getting into the hobby?
A: No matter what you do, you’re going to be met with nonconstructive criticism, hate and, well, some really unkind people. Don’t let the naysayers get you down. Surround yourself with positive, encouraging people and do what makes you happy!
