This week we interviewed our customer, Janvier Cosplay! See more of her work via Facebook!

Q: When did you start cosplaying, and what got you started?
A: I started cosplaying in 2010, and my first cosplay was actually a giant piece of sushi. I was inspired to start cosplaying by my older sister who also cosplayed at the time because she always had such a fun time when she was in cosplay at conventions.

Q: What is your favorite part of the costume-making process?
A: My favorite part of the process is picking out materials. Especially that moment of joy when you find a fabric that’s the perfect weight and color for your cosplay or when you find the perfect shoes.

Q: Which costume are you most proud of?
A: The costume that I am most proud of would have to be Bloody Marie from Skullgirls. I wanted to go for a balance of cartoony and realistic. I feel confident that I found that balance with this cosplay.

Q: Do you have a favorite Arda Wig style and/or color?
A: My favorite arda wig style would have to be their Chibi. My favorite color is silver because it’s very versatile, works well for characters that have white hair, and dyes really well with idye poly.

Q: What advice do you have for new cosplayers getting into the hobby?
A: My advice for new cosplayers getting into the hobby is to not be too afraid when starting your first project. The project might not look perfect when it’s done but that’s fine. Your skills won’t improve unless you practice and make mistakes.
