Iron Wig 2016 – Round 4: Super Saiyan Wig

Hello contestants and spectators, and welcome to round 4 of Iron Wig 2016!

Our contestants received the following:
-Malinda in Pale Blonde
-Short wefts in Pale Blonde

Contestants: This is a character round! We want you to make a Super Saiyan wig, for any Super Saiyan of your choice from the Dragonball Z anime series. You cannot use additional hair besides what was provided, but you can use supplemental materials such as foam core.

Reference photos for the Super Saiyan you’re creating is required with your wig submission. Fan art/variants will not be accepted – make sure the Super Saiyan images are official works. You can email the references to us for confirmation if you are uncertain.

Progress photos are not required, though they do help! Take photos of several angles of the finished wig. You may have assistance with the photography, makeup, modeling, etc (just not the styling).

These are the categories we’ll be judging you on for a total of 30 points possible:
-Cleanliness (10 points)
-Accuracy (10 points)
-Complexity (10 points)

Here’s a rundown on how each category works:

CLEANLINESS (1/3 of your final score)

Cleanliness is literally how clean your wig looks. Some things we look carefully for when scoring this category:
Do individual spikes come to a smooth point, or are the tips cut bluntly? Are there gaps showing? Is the hair smooth or bumpy over different areas? How’s the overall shape of a spike or hair form? Can we see glue, excessive flyaways, Etc.
Points will be deducted based on how many things we nitpicked and the extensiveness of those things.

ACCURACY (1/3 of your final score)

How accurate is the wig to the Super Saiyan you chose?

COMPLEXITY (1/3 of your final score)

For this category, we look at the types of techniques used in each entry, and the level of difficulty for the style as a whole to determine a score.

Scores will be done by 3 Arda judges; scores will be added up and divided by 3 to give each contestant an average score for each category. Contestants can obtain a private critique if requested.

This is a double-elimination round! The TWO contestants with the lowest score will be eliminated from Iron Wig, but they’ll go home with a $50 gift certificate!

Following this round will be the final round between the remaining three contestants. So instead of immunity, the contestant with the highest score from our Arda judges will receive a $25 certificate to our website.

There will be an audience favorite poll once the results are in; the top favorite will receive a $20 gift certificate to our website.

Late entry policy: Entries submitted within 12 hours after the deadline can be accepted as a late entry. Late entries will not be qualified to enter the audience poll, and will receive a 25% point deduction from their total score. This will likely result in being eliminated from the competition, but the contestant can still receive their $50 certificate. Entries submitted past the 12-hour late entry period will be disqualified, and will not qualify for their $50 certificate.
