Iron Wig 2017 Round 4: Giorno Giovanna
Hello contestants and spectators, and welcome to round 4 of Iron Wig 2017!
Our contestants received the following:
- One Le Tigre in Lemon Drop
Contestants: This is a character round! This year we chose Giorno Giovanna from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, who we will hopefully be seeing in an upcoming anime season.
You cannot use additional hair besides the Le Tigre provided, but you can use supplies such as foam or other structure supports.
Progress photos are not required, though they do help! Take photos of several angles of the finished wig. You may have assistance with the photography, makeup, modeling, etc (just not the styling).
These are the categories we’ll be judging you on for a total of 30 points possible:
-Cleanliness (10 points)
-Creativity/Complexity (10 points)
-Accuracy (10 points)
Here’s a rundown on how each category works:
CLEANLINESS (1/3 of your final score)
Cleanliness is literally how clean your wig looks. Some examples we look at when scoring this category:
Do spikes have tips that are cut bluntly, or do they come to a nice point? Are there gaps showing? Is the hair smooth or bumpy over different areas? How’s the overall shape of a spike or hair form? Is the cut choppy or uneven? Can we see glue, flyways, or frizz? Etc.
Points will be deducted based on how many things we nitpicked and the extensiveness of those.
CREATIVITY/COMPLEXITY (1/3 of your final score)
We’ll be looking at the techniques used, and the complexity & effectiveness of those techniques to determine a score. Did you do something interesting to make his hair “donuts?” Though everyone is creating the same style, we think there will be a variety of ways to approach it.
ACCURACY (1/3 of your final score)
How accurate is the wig to Giorno’s hairstyle? Please include your preferred reference images with your entry submission.
Scores will be done by 3 Arda judges; scores will be added up and divided by 3 to give each contestant an average score for each category. Contestants are welcome to reach out to the Arda team for a private critique after scores have been published.
This is a double-elimination round! The TWO contestants with the lowest score will be eliminated from Iron Wig, but they’ll go home with a $50 gift certificate!
Following this round will be the final round between the remaining three contestants. So instead of immunity, the contestant with the highest score from our Arda judges will receive a $25 certificate to our website.
There will be an audience favorite poll once the results are in; the top favorite will receive a $20 gift certificate to our website!
Late entry policy: Entries submitted within 12 hours after the deadline can be accepted as a late entry. Late entries will not be qualified to enter the audience poll, and will receive a 25% point deduction from their total score. This will likely result in being eliminated from the competition, but the contestant can still receive their $50 certificate. Entries submitted past the 12-hour late entry period will be disqualified, and will not qualify for their $50 certificate.
