Customer Spotlight: SamanthaLynn

Q:  When did you start cosplaying, and what got you started?
A:  I started cosplaying a little over a year ago. I always wanted to cosplay growing up, and simply used Halloween as my time to dress up. I never had the right money or resources until I grew up and moved out and got my own grown up job. After I went to my first convention, I immediately decided to build my own cosplay because I felt like I was missing out on a great experience! I basically just threw myself into it, and my first experience with cosplay just fueled my motivation for more!

Q:  What is your favorite part of the costume-making process?
A:  My favorite part has to be the wigs!! My second favorite would be drawing out and designing how I want to make the cosplay. But, the wigs are so exciting to me! I love getting a new wig in the mail and styling it.

Q:  Which costume are you most proud of?
A:  I am most proud of the Skull Kid costume that I made, because it took me so much time to make, and it was also the first cosplay that I made entirely by hand, all by myself. I do have to say, though, that I am almost as equally as proud of my Rapunzel wig. I put so much time and effort into making it, and I restyle it literally after every use so it looks fresh.

Q:  Do you have a favorite Arda Wig style and/or color?
A:  I LOVE the lace front wigs and Luthien. My favourite colours are the Raven and Dark Purple.

Q:  What advice do you have for new cosplayers getting into the hobby?
A:   Don’t be nervous, just dive in! Be friendly and talk to people, you will learn so much from talking to other cosplayers. Join some cosplay talk pages on social media to get some good, honest advice on your work. And always remember it’s all for fun! Don’t take it too seriously!
