Arda: What is your creative outlet?

Arda: Tell us a little bit about your featured photo!
FNC: This was a dream cosplay, both to make and shoot! One of the things I love about cosplaying animated characters is choosing the different fabrics and textures to recreate the costume.
In this dress, I used lace and a beaded wire frame to make the stand-up collar. The bodice is made from deep blue micro suede with red velvet peeking through the sleeves, which gives it a very rich appearance. As a contrast, I wanted to keep the skirt light and airy, so I added a sheer, butter yellow layer over the skirt. Finally, with the cape I chose to stick with the movie version, where the outer layer appears black.
I was fortunate to get to shoot this dress on location at the local renaissance faire. I love the carpet of fall leaves under my feet and the golden hue of the light. This was a truly magical shoot!
Arda: Which look/costume are you most proud of?
FNC: It’s a close call between my Snow White, and my more recent Mary Poppins. The Snow White was a miracle, as I somehow managed to put it together in under two weeks!! Definitely my quickest costume construction to date. Mary Poppins, on the other hand, was a costume that I initially made thinking it would be quick and easy, and turned into a 3-month labor of love. There are nearly 30 hand sewn appliqués covering the skirt and sleeves of the dress!
Arda: Do you have a favorite Arda Wig style and/or color?
FNC: I love the Eowyn style! The wig is the perfect length for most long haired characters without much of the hassle that comes with extra long wigs! The bangs are also very easy to alter, and the perfect length for certain characters like Ariel. I am the proud owner of three different Eowyn wigs, the first (and most used) of which is my dark purple one.
Arda: What Arda product are you dying to try out?
FNC: I’ve got my eyes on a lacefront Lindsay wig in Deep Brown. Hoping to use that for a planned Christine Daaé cosplay in the future.
