Cosplay Name and Social Info?
What does Juneteenth mean to you?
Juneteenth is important because its a day that signifies liberation and freedom. It's also something that until fairly recently hasn't been recognized or talked about enough, even though it should have been all along. It was the first step towards equality, and while there is still a LOT more work to be done, it was a step in the right direction!
What made you start sewing/cosplay?
I've always loved costumes and superheroes. As a drag performer, generally you have to make or commission your costumes anyway. I began sewing as a means to an end to fulfill the needs I found myself with as I got more into drag and then further into cosplay.
What advice do you have for creators just starting out?
The only advice I ever give is: "JUST START". Whether it's cosplay or drag, be prepared to look back on your early years and cringe, but know that the more you do it the better you'll get.
What is your favorite sewing tool you use daily? Favorite fabric?
Well, it's technically not a sewing tool, but I love my heat gun. Once I got more into foam-crafting the heat gun legitimately changed my life. I'm honestly always trying to find excuses to use it whenever possible.
What is your favorite Arda Wig? Why?
Oh hands down the Tauriel in Pure White. It's my go-to for storm wigs. The density is great and the length is perfect. The widow's peak hairline is perfect. It's not too dramatic but it's still noticeable and recognizable
What do you love most about cosplay? What do you wish you could change?
I love a project and I love making a complete look from scratch. I like to try to be as accurate as possible, but naturally some things don't translate from a drawing to real life and that's fine. haha I wish I could stop myself from under-estimating the time a costume takes. I know full well I'm gonna always get carried away and get hyper focused on some parts, but every time I'm like "Oh I can do that in four days, it's fine."
What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
My goal has always been to write and draw comics. It'll happen one day for sure. It's something I've worked on and thought about for my entire life.
If you had to be shipwrecked on a deserted island, but all your human needs—such as food and water—were taken care of, what two items would you want to have with you?
Well...I'd say "my cats" but they would be no help on a deserted island...So I don't know, I guess my phone and a solar charger so I could call for help? If not that then a sketch book and pencils so I could maybe get some work done with all that free time.
