Description
Rit for natural fibers and fabrics! These dyes are intended for cottons and other natural materials. Some colors will work for synthetic wig dyeing, but for a more reliable color we recommend Rit DyeMore Synthetics or Jacquard iDye Poly. This dye method requires heat to activate, which will remove curls and require some straightening with a flat iron afterward or re-curling/styling of your wig.
- If this is your first time dyeing a wig, start with a Pure White, Silver or other light colored wig depending on your preference. Be sure to purchase additional Color Samples swatches in the same color for testing. Remember, synthetic wigs are not like real hair, you cannot go from a darker color to a lighter one!
- Following the instructions on the Rit packet, bring water to boil in a large pot and mix in the dye.
- To achieve the perfect color test out various dye colors and times using your Color Samples before dying your wig.
- Get your wig wet before carefully placing it in the simmering dye pot.
- The longer you leave the wig in the dye bath, the darker and more vibrant the color will become! For lighter tints, use a smaller portion of dye.
- Yes, you can mix the dye packets to get exactly the color you want! Alternatively, you can also experiment with a base wig color other than white or silver. We've had some fantastic results using this method.

FAQs

Are your wigs heat-resistant? Can I style this wig with my hair dryer or hair straightener?
Yes! CLASSIC fiber is heat-resistant up to 420°F / 215°C, and SILKY up to 350°F / 175°C. We suggest using styling tools in the medium (250-300°F /120-150°C) range to extend the lifespan of your wig. Premium lace front wig resistance is closer to SILKY's.
What is the difference between your Classic and Silky fibers? For more information on the differences, check out our Classic vs Silky page!
I have a large head / a ton of hair. Will your wigs fit me?Most of our wigs are about 23 inches circumference and can stretch up to around 25 inches, which can fit most heads! Wigs that are smaller or do not have as much stretch will include such information in their site description. If you have a lot of hair, braid or twist it in 2 or more sections around your head before putting on a wig cap. To increase the size further, an easy trick is to cut a spot in the wig behind each ear, and use the wig's elastic to bridge the gaps together to give you up to an extra inch on each side. Below is a handy head measuring guide for our wigs!
